Queue Management

A queue is a virtual list of applications that has been filtered and ordered using a set of criteria defined as part of a corresponding queue definition. Items in queues are presented to users in the user group assigned to the queue.

The queue definition query is executed against the database each time a user selects the next application or skips an application. There is no list of applications stored in memory.

Note: To create, assign, modify, and delete queues, you must have the appropriate permissions. By default, queues can be created by a user with a System Administrator or Manager role; however, the assign, edit, and delete permissions are dynamically created and assigned to selected roles during the creation process.
The Application Processing Module provides the following types of queues:
  • Manual queue (When you work on a manual queue, you can choose to search, open and process any application from the queue.)
  • Priority queue (When you work in a priority queue, you can process applications only in the sequence determined by your administrator.)

As an administrator, you may create either a manual queue, or a priority queue, or both.

Each queue gathers applications together based on the data used within the definition of the queue. Applications can appear in more than one queue. You must, therefore, make sure that when you create or modify a queue, an application does not appear in more than one queue unless that behavior is intended.

The Processing Errors and Search are queue capabilities, which are supplied as default, enable you to list the corresponding applications based on the defined filter criteria.

Note: By default, no user or user group is assigned to these queue capabilities. Therefore, an administrator must assign these capabilities to users or user groups before they can be used.
